Mission 2017 – Day 7

This morning we travelled to visit Flora and our friends at Campo De Fe. It was so great to see those who have been there for some time and others we haven’t met in the past. We provided the ministry with lots of food, fresh fruit, and cleaning supplies. Then we went into the fellowship hall and had a worship service. Dave and Lynette blessed us as they played the music and we sang praises to the Lord. Then several from the team shared testimonials and even a few from Campo De Fe. What a joyous time in the Lord! We prayed for one another and left for Rosarito Beach where we had lunch and time for shopping. On our way home, we stopped at our favorite candy store and found hidden treasures at Dulceria. Umm Umm Good is all we could say.  We enjoyed a fellowship dinner with the Puente Staff and our translators. Amalia and her daughter Yvette made Taco Soup and brownies. It was great to see Mike and Cathy Brandt and catch up. We ended the evening with a worship service and blessed those who blessed us this week. What an amazing trip we’ve had. On tomorrow we will leave the base and return to San Diego. Our flight will get us home around midnight. MISSION COMPLETE!!!...

Mission 2017 – Day 6

TODAY IS THE DAY!!!! We all woke up with great anticipation of the families reaction to seeing their new home for the first time. The whole team worked together to get the final touches done on the house before we gave the keys to the family. Raina’s Church provided the food and our stomachs were growling awaiting the carne asada tacos being made. The moment finally arrived and the family stood at the front door of their new home. Immediately the tears began to flow as we watched the family enter their new home. We celebrated with hugs, food, and fellowship. What an awesome time!!! We left there and went to visit Obed and Evelyn’s Orphanage and the children all greeted us with hugs and love. Some played with the children while others listened as they shared how this important ministry began. The stories were heart wrenching and we couldn’t help but pray for the Obed, Evelyn, and the children. Shortly after we had a BBQ in the vacant lot near their home inviting the neighborhood. We pulled out the grill and served hotdogs, oranges, bananas, and Barb’s Famous Chocolate Chip Cookies. The children enjoyed a bible lesson with Barb and Donna while coloring the page we taught from. We also handed out jewelry, candy bags, and most importantly Bibles. Many people from the neighborhood showed up and we were able to pray for them. They were so grateful for the food and the gifts. We ended the evening with dinner at Pollo Feliz and a heart felt debrief remembering all the Lord had done. What an amazing day!!!! Tomorrow we will conclude our trip with a visit to Campo De Fe and...

Mission 2017 – Day 5

Today was a powerful day of ministry. Kayla shared Philippians 1:6 which reminds that God will complete the work he began in us until Jesus comes back for us. Each of us was born on purpose; for a purpose; and with a purpose. So no matter how difficult the task, continue to try and perfect the things you are learning. After breakfast some of us went to the house to continue working and completing our assignment. Others left to get the shopping done for the house and the ministries. Barb and another few on the team stayed back at the base to bake her famous Chocolate Chip Cookies. OH YEAH!!!!! In the afternoon, several of us got a chance to visit Gracia Misericordia Comedor which is Emmy’s feeding kitchen. Donna gave a lesson while we cooked spaghetti for the children. They had a blast coloring while waiting to be served. We provided the feeding kitchen with many necessary supplies and food. They really enjoyed the oranges, bananas, and cookies as well. We left and went back to the house to clean up and get ready for church. We attended Pastor Oliver’s Church where Donna and Sebastian gave their testimonies. Their youth ministered during Praise and Worship. You could feel the presence of God fill the room as they were singing. The youngest on their team was 12 years and had a true love for the Father that was just amazing! Sebastian shared how he was the lost sheep spoken of in Luke 15 and how the Father kept him even though he wasn’t following Him. Donna testified of how she had gotten away from following the...

Mission 2017 – Day 4

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY SAINTS OF GOD!!!! We began our day with a devotion given by the youngest member of our team, Robert Ousley. He reminded us that Jesus is the greatest love of all. We sang Jesus Loves Me together but changed the words to “Jesus Loves You” as way to remind us of why we are here…to share the love of Jesus. How powerful a message!!! A good portion of the crew went to continue the work at the job site, while the rest of us visited a new Women’s Rehab Facility. There were about 30 women that we had the chance to minister to and pray for. Mauricio, Heather, Donna, and Terri all shared testimonies. The women were moved to tears as they heard of our own struggles and could identify with them. I believe the Lord broke through to their hearts and they were given the renewed hope that they have been longing for. Right before we left a young lady came asking for prayer because her husband had been killed a week ago and he was still in the morgue because she didn’t have anything to identify him. She couldn’t get in touch with his family because they had moved to Utah and there was no way to reach them. We prayed and asked for the Lord to give us direction on how she could reach the family and to keep her strong so that she didn’t return to using drugs. We all believed that He not only heard our prayer but was answering while we were praying. Afterwards we went back to the house to finish...

Mission 2017 – Day 3

Day 3 began with a powerful devotion lead by Jess and Jean. They reminded us about the importance of remembering who we are in Christ and not allowing fear to overtake us. We loaded up in the van and headed to the job site ready to work and minister to those we came in to contact with. It was awesome to meet the children in the neighborhood (Angel and Katherine) and to learn about their families. They were so willing to help us to paint the outer walls of the home and bless their neighbors. Tears of joy began to flow as we lifted the first wall in to place. We were so blessed to see the excitement on the face of Raina (mother) as she could finally see the resemblance of a home. By What an amazing opportunity to share the love of Jesus Christ with them. A few members left the job site to purchase items to bless each of the ministries with. There were 7 carts filled top to bottom with blessings for the people of TJ. On tomorrow, several members will continue to working on building the home while the rest of the team heads to the Women’s Rehabilitation Facility. The afternoon will consist of preparing Barb’s Famous Chocolate Chip cookies for the Fiesta and ministries we will visit later this week. Continue to pray for us as we share the love of Christ with all whom we...

Missions 2017 – Day 2

Today began with a wonderful breakfast cooked by our favorite chef Amalia and her daughter. We left the base by 9 am to provide the homeless people with food, Bible’s, shoes, and most importantly the love of Jesus Christ. We prayed for and with those we came in to contact with. It was a blessing to be able to impact their lives and we learned about the hardships of those we served. The stories were heartbreaking but the people were so grateful for us being there. The generous donations of the people who made it possible for us to be here is transforming lives in ways you may never know. We attended Church with Pastor Fernando. Worship was amazing and the presence of God could be felt by all who were there. The Pastor’s granddaughter blessed us with a praise dance and invited us all to her birthday party after church. Many were moved to tears as she shared her testimony regarding her mother going to the US to pursue her degree in Ministry. Pastor Stephaney shared the message reminding us that we all have been created for a specific purpose and must walk confidently in our calling. Afterward we grabbed a bite to eat at Casa Blanca and came back to the base to prepare for our Reunion Dinner. We were blessed to see the 4 families that we’ve built  homes for. The children are growing up so fast and it was amazing to hear the testimonies and how our labor of love has changed their lives. Tomorrow we begin the first phase of building the home for another family that God has provided us with. We are so excited to see what...
